UWinnipeg’s Psychology Department’s Prairie Undergraduate Research Conference
Registration for UWinnipeg’s Psychology Department’s Prairie Undergraduate Research Conference is now open and will close on April 17 at 11:59 pm. This Conference is for undergraduate students who are completing their Honours thesis course in the Spring of 2024, or who would like to present an advanced research project that they completed in the 2023-2024 academic year. Abstracts must be submitted at the time of registration. There is no submission review process involved and undergraduate students from any university are invited to present if they are:
- an Honours student completing their thesis course, or
- a Psychology undergraduate student who completed an advanced research project in 2023-2024
There is a registration fee of $30.00 for anyone who is attending the entire conference. The fee covers the luncheon buffet. The registration fee is waived for UWinnipeg Psychology and Cognitive NSCI Honours Students presenting their thesis at the conference. If you register, pay the registration fee, and would like to withdraw from the conference, please contact c.smallwood@uwinnipeg.ca. Any registration cancellation requests received before 8:30 a.m. on April 18 will receive a full refund, and any requests received after that day will not receive a refund.
The Conference day’s schedule is as follows:
- Conference badge pick-up and morning refreshments run from 8:00-8:45.
- Opening Remarks are at 8:50.
- The first session of spoken presentations runs from 9:00-10:30.
- Poster presentations run from 10:30-11:00.
- The second session of spoken presentations runs from 11:00-12:00.
- A luncheon buffet is served from 12:00-1:15.
- The Keynote Address is from 1:30-2:30.
Spoken presentations are 15 minutes in duration, which includes a brief question period. Presenters will be organized into sessions with similar topics (e.g. Social/Personality, Cognition, Clinical/Health, Physiological, Developmental, etc.). The schedule for presentations will be released in the week before the Conference.
We award two monetary prizes of $300.00 each at the Conference: one for the best oral presentation in the social sciences (The McIntyre Award) and one for the best oral presentation in the natural sciences (The Santesso Award). Note that UWinnipeg Honours students only will be considered for the Santesso Award, but all spoken presentations will be considered for the McIntyre Award; oral presentations only are judged for both awards.
